Join us at 6pm as Xavier art teacher, Cathy Recker, teaches this class on making handmade books using photos. This two hour class is free and open to anyone eight years or older. Participants will need to provide at least five photos (4 x 6 inch or smaller) for their book. Photos can be on photo paper or computer paper. Participants may bring scrapbooking materials to embellish their book. Registration is required.

The GFWC/Iowa Dyersville Federated Woman's Club is coordinating a Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, August 2 from 1:30 to 6:30 pm in Xavier Auditorium.  Appointments may be made by calling Shirley at 563-875-6015 or 1-800-RED-CROSS or by visiting their website at www.redcrossblood.org.  Walk-ins are welcome.  The Dyersville Dairy Queen will be donating dilly bars for all donors!

There is a very critical need for blood donations.  In June blood donations were down 10% across the country, with 50,000 fewer pints of
blood available.   Every day the Red Cross must collect 17,000 pints of blood for patients at more than 3,000 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country.  Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion.   Blood is a perishable product, so it must be replenished frequently.
